Facilities Technician

About the role

The Facilities Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance and repair tasks on a variety of equipment, machinery, and systems. This role ensures Fountain House facilities are kept safe, clean, and operate in a dignified manner consistent with the organization’s mission. Responsibilities

• Inspect and troubleshoot machinery and equipment to identify any issues or malfunctions.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, light carpentry, and replacement of parts.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing problems.
• Read and interpret technical manuals and schematics to perform repairs.
• Operate hand and power tools and other specialized tools as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety guidelines and regulations.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks to avoid breakdowns and downtime.
• Collaborate with other maintenance staff and managers to identify and prioritize maintenance needs.
• Respond to emergency repair requests in a timely manner.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Inspect property for safety, upkeep, and repairs.
• Support deliveries from vendors and suppliers.
• Perform sidewalk and garden upkeep, collect trash, etc.
• Check functionality of safety systems (e.g., fire alarm).
• Work with a diverse community at multiple sites.
• Collaborate with workers and others.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, required.
• 3-5 years of maintenance experience and general knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems preferred.
• Must be able to obtain certificates of fitness for Fire Guard (F01) & Supervision of Fire Alarm systems (S95) within the first year of employment.
• Other Certificates of fitness in HVAC, Standpipe, and Life Safety systems is a plus.
• Experience using hand and electrical tools required.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physical stamina and dexterity is essential.
• Valid NYS driver’s license preferred.
• Basic understanding of Microsoft suite (Emails, Calendars, and basic Excel spreadsheets).
• Understanding of the organization’s mission and willingness to work in partnership with staff and members.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform the essential job functions safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.

Pay

$28.12 per hour

Schedule

9 am to 5 pm with some evenings and weekends.
