Join the City of Saratoga Springs as a full-time Facilities Technician and contribute to the ongoing custodial and maintenance upkeep of City buildings, ensuring facilities are clean, safe, attractive, and secure.
About the role
This is a full-time, non-exempt position of approximately 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Performs standard cleaning services such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, emptying trash containers, dusting furniture, walls, machines, and equipment, cleaning interior windows, cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, locker rooms, kitchens, and break rooms, polishing fixtures, and filling dispensers.
- Performs periodic major cleaning projects.
- Keeps accurate records of inventory and informs supervisor of supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance projects.
- Notifies supervisor concerning needed building or equipment repairs.
- Manages building security and safety by unlocking and locking doors after operating hours.
- Works outside of regular business hours as needed for emergency cleanup and repairs or scheduled maintenance work.
- Assists with performing general building maintenance including lighting, lamp replacement, painting, drywall, carpentry, minor electrical, and minor plumbing.
- Performs minor building repairs on items such as windows, doors, switches, tables, equipment and appliances, sinks, toilets, HVAC, and walls.
- May oversee building maintenance and repair work performed by outside vendors.
- Assists with the dissemination of information to other City Personnel and impacted parties on assigned projects.
- Assists with snow removal during inclement weather at City Facilities.
- Sets up and prepares buildings for special events.
- May assist with tracking, scheduling, and overseeing maintenance and repair of the Administrative department vehicles.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience working in custodial fields, building maintenance, or a related field.
- Must possess a valid Utah Driver license.
Skills
- Ability to follow City policies and procedures.
- Routine knowledge of industrial cleaning/custodial duties, cleaning methods, and supplies.
- Understanding of work hazards and safety procedures.
- Ability to use computers and other electronic devices to maintain records, utilize task lists, and monitor messages while performing other work.
- Ability to use all tools and operate all equipment safely, including climbing ladders and balancing without assistance.
- Effective verbal and written communication with staff and the general public, including receiving and implementing instructions.
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and follow through with multiple projects of various complexity.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean environment.

Working Conditions
- Work involves walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reaching with hands and arms for extended periods.
- Vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
- May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or move carts of items up to 100 pounds.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet in the office and moderately loud when utilizing some equipment.
- Requires climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, including on ladders or similar equipment without assistance.
- May be occasionally required to work in outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, high or precarious places, near fumes, airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Work requires sustained periods of maintaining efficiency, attention to detail, alertness, proficiency, and accuracy.
- Position requires driving City vehicles.
Pay
Salary range: $22.58/hr (minimum) to $31.61/hr (maximum), with hiring typically occurring at the minimum of the range and not exceeding the midpoint of $27.09/hr.

Schedule
Wednesday - Saturday, 5:00am to 4:00pm.
