Facilities Technician
About the role
The position is responsible for maintaining and servicing all building related functions, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing and ground maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Perform the required tasks supporting operations of the Harrisburg locations, equipment, and facilities.
- Build and equipment is kept in repair according to prints and manuals.
- Document changes and review with supervisor within a 24-hour period.
- Complete monthly Preventive Maintenance activities using task layout and schedule.
- Maintain and note records of problems, passing them on to supervisor within a 24-hour period.
- Follow up on issues and see through to completion when within the scope of the job function.
- Support office and open floor plan work areas with special projects.
- Furniture and office construction is completed according to the furniture standards manual.
- Note discrepancies and take corrective action.
- Achieve strict adherence to scheduled time frames for each step of the project.
- Hold all work to a high standard and comply with required codes.
- Follow safety and security procedures.
- Participate in monthly safety training.
- Store hazardous materials at approved areas.
- Provide 24-hour support for the facility.
- Respond to unscheduled work as required.
- Complete on-call reports and communicate to management the next business day.
Qualifications
- The ability to communicate and document information supporting facilities activities.
- Preventive Maintenance records are documented and stored in established areas.
- Work orders and Service orders are logged by the end of the day.
- Purchase requisitions are filled out for parts and services according to Facilities policy.
- Familiar with basic problem-solving actions in related fields.
- Ability to interact with other plan personnel to complete work scheduled.
- Engage in repair and maintenance of machines and equipment to ensure continuous operation.
- Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
- Aids in plans, development, and setup of new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of materials.
- Proven ability to work with a wide variety of projects and meet goals and deadlines.
- Must exhibit the ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision in duties associated with this position.
- Ability to adjust schedule to meet priorities and emergencies.
- Ability to communicate written and verbal technical reports in related areas.

Pay
Base pay is influenced by several factors including a candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, and anticipated contributions to meet the needs of the business, along with internal pay equity and external market-driven rates. The salary range displayed has not been adjusted for geographical location. This range has been created in good faith based on information known to Capital Blue Cross at the time of posting and may be modified in the future.
Schedule
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to climb ladders, sit, use hands and fingers, talk, hear, and see. The employee must be able to work over 37.5 hours per week. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Assist with snow and ice removal.
