About The Role
The Facilities Technician (FT) provides daily care and focused attention to maintain a clean, efficient, and operational environment within the facility. The FT performs inspections, maintenance, and repairs on the cultivation facility and machinery, provides feedback to leadership, and interacts with vendors and contractors to ensure appropriate expertise is leveraged.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily sanitation procedures including bathrooms, hallways, break areas, and facility interiors/exteriors.
- Restock all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), trash, and restroom supplies throughout the building daily.
- Perform minor repairs of buildings and equipment with minimal supervision, including grow lights, fans, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Perform major repairs under the direction and supervision of the Facilities Manager, coordinating with external contractors or licensed tradesmen as needed.
- Responsibly use and operate vehicles, tools, materials, parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Install and maintain new equipment (e.g., assembling racks, installing dehumidifiers) as directed by the Facilities Manager.
- Troubleshoot minor maintenance issues involving electrical, structural, plumbing, and equipment.
- Follow maintenance and repair schedules to ensure routine maintenance is performed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Schedule maintenance for tasks outside the realm of expertise and learn from contractors to reduce reliance on outside services.
- Undertake occasional custodial and janitorial tasks (e.g., shoveling snow).
- Wash and sort employees’ uniforms using onsite washer/dryer to ensure clean uniforms for each shift.
- Assist in other departments as needed.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, equipment cleaning, maintenance, calibration, and facility systems logs.
- Promptly report any system failure, malfunction, or facility damage to the Facilities Manager.
- Assist with the completion of daily, weekly, and monthly checklists for building equipment and maintenance procedures.
- Adhere to facility SOPs and assist with secondary Facilities tasks as needed.
- Follow all aspects of the workplace safety program, biosafety program, and maintain compliance with rules and regulations.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment on the production floor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent experience required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair.
- Strong knowledge of trades including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, tile, and miscellaneous repairs.
- Knowledge of the marijuana industry or other highly regulated industry is strongly preferred.
- Work history showing flexibility and willingness to accept additional projects or challenges.

- Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances.
- Excellent time-management skills and ability to plan and prioritize effectively.

- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly and calmly.
- Ability to remain calm in periods of high stress or unusual activity.

Schedule
Monday-Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm ET (subject to change as business needs).
Work Environment And Physical Demands
- Manufacturing environment requiring extended time standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to carry up to 50lbs for up to a distance of 100ft may be required.
- Occasional extended and repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers to cut and manipulate small objects.
- Ability to work in a humid and pollinated environment.
- Close visual focus required.
- Must wear company-provided lab coats, hair/beard nets, gloves, surgical masks, and safety glasses/goggles/splash shield while working in the lab.
- Must adhere to general hygiene requirements at the Syracuse facility.
