Facilities Technician
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties)
- Repair and maintain organizational facilities, systems, or equipment.
- Receive facilities maintenance work order requests from employees, customers, or other visitors.
- Ensure work is performed in a timely manner and triage requests to prioritize the most critical repairs.
- Inspect and perform preventative maintenance or as-needed repairs on facilities or systems, including:
- Mechanical and electrical systems
- Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) or other environmental management systems
- Generators or power management systems
- WFI, cooling towers, chillers, boilers, air compressors, and Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Perform basic repairs and coordinate the work of specialists when more complex repairs are required.
- Schedule maintenance or repairs to minimize disruption to organizational operations.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor.
Expertise: Knowledge & Skills
- Applies comprehensive working knowledge of a technical field or area of specialization.
- Exercises general application of principles, theories, and concepts to propose effective courses of action.
- Performs comprehensive shop-floor competencies.
- Works under general supervision and may assist in orienting, training, assigning, and checking the work of peers.
- Utilizes limited judgment in resolving problems.
- Maintains regular contact with direct supervisors, peers, and subordinates.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- 6+ years of related experience as a stationary engineer and/or building management systems operator.
- Preferred Qualifications: Associate’s or technical degree, CA and/or LA County Steam License.
Physical Demands
- While performing job duties, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear and frequently required to use hands and arms.
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, twisting, lifting, and moving up to 20 pounds may be required.
Work Classification
Light work: Exerting up to 20 lbs occasionally, 10 lbs frequently, or negligible force constantly. Lifting, Carrying, Pushing, Pulling Activities Occasionally: Sitting Frequently: Standing, reaching upward and downward, pushing/pulling Activities Occasionally: Sitting Frequently: Handling, standing, walking, pushing/pulling, reaching upward and downward, talking (ordinary or loud/quick)
Environmental Conditions & Work Environment
- Environmental Exposure: Frequently works in proximity to moving parts and other operational elements.
- Work Environment: Production/manufacturing environment.
- Noise Intensity: Moderate.

The targeted range for this role takes into account a range of factors that are considered when making compensation and hiring decisions; included but not limited to: skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
