FACILITIES TECHNICIAN
About the role
The Facilities Technician - Engineering position at Archbold Medical Center is responsible for maintaining building automated controls, equipment, and systems in optimal operating condition. This role also involves monitoring and maintaining steam or hot water piping and support systems, ensuring the safety and quick restoration of vital services during power outages, and managing exhaust fans.
Responsibilities
- Maintains building automated controls (thermostats) and equipment in optimum operating condition.
- Counsels and trains new employees in the use of equipment and procedures.
- Conducts routine operational assessments.
- Maintains an effective water treatment and testing program.
- Maintains steam and/or hot water heaters and/or boilers in "safe to operate" condition.
- Monitors and maintains steam and/or hot water piping and support systems.
- Ensures vital services are restored quickly and safely due to a loss of power.
- Maintains exhaust fans in optimum operating condition.
Requirements
- Graduate high school or GED equivalent.
- One year or more in general maintenance.
- Good mechanical aptitude with basic knowledge of trouble-shooting.
- Teachable and trainable with good people skills.
- Effective communication and good inter-personal skills.
- Good physical and mental dexterity.
- Able to handle stressful situations using good judgment.
- Valid driving license.
- Able to climb ladders, lift at least 50 pounds.
Skills
- General maintenance experience.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
- Minor carpentry skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
