FACILITIES TECHNICIAN

Requirements

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience: Must demonstrate good mechanical aptitude with basic troubleshooting knowledge. Must be teachable, trainable, and possess good people skills.

• One year or more in general maintenance
• Ability to assist with electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, and minor carpentry on a preventative basis
• Effective communication and strong interpersonal skills

Physical Demands: Good physical and mental dexterity; ability to work under delegation-style management in moderately stressful conditions and handle stressful situations with good judgment. Must have a valid driver’s license, be able to climb ladders, and lift at least 50 pounds.

Reporting: This position does not supervise anyone and reports to the Facilities Management Manager.

Responsibilities

• Maintain building automated controls (including thermostats) and equipment in optimum operating condition; conduct routine operational assessments
• Maintain an effective water treatment and testing program
• Monitor and maintain steam or hot water piping and support systems
• Maintain steam and/or hot water heaters and/or boiler(s) in “safe to operate” condition
• Ensure vital services are restored quickly and safely after a loss of power
• Maintain exhaust fans in optimum operating condition
