This position is considered essential personnel in certain emergencies and may be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours, including staying late or coming in early. The hours for this position are 10am–6pm. You will oversee the Clinton, Gardner, and Fitchburg locations, with occasional travel to other buildings in the region.

About the role

The Facilities Supervisor II supervises all custodial staff and related work for a cluster of court facilities or for one stand-alone courthouse facility that does not include multiple court departments and is greater than 70,000 square feet. The role coordinates installations and repairs, ensures building cleanliness and infrastructure integrity, and supports the administration of justice across the Commonwealth.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures courthouses meet Trial Court standards and are presentable to the public.
  • Provides staff supervision for maintenance of courthouse facilities.
  • Operates standard building controls and reports system failures.
  • Manages the job request computer system and completes requests by outsourced vendors and contractors.
  • Distributes job tasks and direction to employees.
  • Prepares building status and/or incident reports for the Manager of Facilities as needed.
  • Initiates purchase requests and receives and distributes supplies.
  • Develops programs or applies for incentive programs to improve cleaning efficiency.
  • Oversees and performs all aspects of building operations, including cleaning, maintenance, building systems, exterior grounds, repairs, projects, and equipment.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and responds to facility emergencies; supervises in-house projects.
  • Conducts multiple daily walkthroughs of buildings.
  • Coordinates preventative maintenance on mechanical systems.
  • Assists with upkeep of custodial equipment as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency.
  • At least five (5) years of related work experience, which may include time spent in an apprenticeship for a skilled trade license. A license in a skilled trade is a plus.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and related experience will be considered.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position serves as a supervisor to others.

Working Conditions

  • Work is frequently performed in office, outdoor, warehouse, storage, or shop/facility environments.
  • Frequent exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, or substances.

Physical Demands

This position requires heavy work: exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Pay

This is a Union position (OPEIU, Local 6) with a pay grade of 17S. The salary range is $72,867.86 to $107,395.34 per year. All new hires start at the entry-level rate of $72,867.86. Pay may advance within the salary band according to the collective bargaining agreement.
