Position Location

This position is based at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ.

Job Overview

The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the craft shops and other functional areas for the project. Provides technical leadership and direction to these groups for the maintenance and repair of buildings, roads and grounds. Possess the ability to reallocate resources to respond to duly approved emergencies/urgent requirements. Ensure staff are properly trained and follow standard operating procedures and work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Provides overall supervision of craft shops.
  • Technical advisor to the Public Works Manager for all matters related to assigned functional areas.
  • Collections data, prepares and submits periodic reports, and prepares and submits work schedules for all assigned work areas.
  • Aids with the direction of all snow removal activities.
  • Reviews shop work orders for completeness, proper method, quality of accomplishment, and availability of materials both before and after work.
  • Establishes work standards and priorities.
  • Inspects work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, policies, regulations, and standards.
  • Manages assigned space, tools, test equipment and materiel for functional areas.
  • Generates and implements methods and procedures to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Ensures proper housekeeping practices are observed.
  • Ensures that subordinate employees time records reflect an accurate record of hours worked and job order numbers to which time is charged.
  • Makes recommendations to Public Works Manager for long-range planning
  • Receives and coordinates all emergency responses after normal operating hours.
  • Maintains and operates company vehicles and/or tools and equipment in compliance with company policy.
  • Supports the project Safety Plan through personal involvement in all aspects of Safety, including training, safety protective equipment and clothing, and adhering to safety requirements pertaining to particular trades or skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

  • Timely, accurate, cost-effective performance of duties.
  • Compliance with contract requirements and CGS/CCSL policies and procedures, including Rules of Conduct.
  • Working closely and harmoniously with other employees.
  • Adherence to all safety and health rules and regulations
  • Pruent management of Government Furnished Property (GFP) assigned to and under employee’s jurisdiction.

Job Requirements

  • Mandatory: US Citizenship.
  • Possesses and maintains a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain government identification/ common access card.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • May be required to pass background check and/or drug screen.
  • 5 or more years’ experience in Public Works Operations and Maintenance services.
  • 4 or more years trade leadership experience.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and customer skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications such as word, Excel, Project, Outlook and Power Point.
  • General knowledge of all maintenance and construction trades.
  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings and transpose data material requirements and facility construction.

Preferred

  • Work experience supporting a military base or civilian installation.
  • Government or military Public Works management experience.
  • Design-Build construction project management experience.
  • LEED Construction experience.
  • Knowledge of Maximo or other work automated management programs.

Physical Requirements

  • Must occasionally lift to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and follow safe lifting procedures.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment to perform essential functions of the job (i.e., phone, computer, copier, etc.).
  • While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand and/or walk for long periods at a time; sit; use hands and fingers; handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs, climb ladders, balance, stoop, kneel.
