Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations and maintenance of all school buildings, grounds, and systems.
- Develop and implement campus-specific preventive and routine maintenance schedules.
- Supervise custodial and maintenance personnel; provide training, guidance, and performance feedback.
- Conduct regular building inspections to ensure compliance with safety codes, ADA requirements, OSHA standards, and other regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance schedules.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests, emergencies, and safety concerns.
- Aid the Director of Facilities with budget tracking, cost estimates, and purchasing of materials and supplies.
- Support the Principal and school staff with facility needs for daily operations, special events, and extracurricular activities.
- Ensure compliance with safety and emergency procedures; participate in school emergency response planning and drills.
- Promote energy-efficient and environmentally responsible practices on campus.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED.
- An associate degree or trade certification preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in building or facilities maintenance, including supervisory or lead experience.
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Familiarity with OSHA, ADA, and building safety regulations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or facilities management software (e.g., CMMS).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in K–12 school facilities or similar institutional environments.
- OSHA 10 or 30 Certification.
- Basic knowledge of South Carolina public school facility codes and regulations.
- Trade certifications (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) or Facilities Management Professional (FMP) credential.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Work performed both indoors and outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.
- May be required to respond to facility emergencies after hours or on weekends.
