About the role

The ideal candidate will be adaptable and compassionate in all situations. Supports To Empower People (STEP) provides comprehensive, community and residential services to adult men who have intellectual/developmental disabilities (ID/DD) as well as significant behavioral and mental health concerns. The principles of Dialectical Behavioral Treatment (DBT) are adapted for the individual and integrated into all aspects of supports.

Responsibilities

  • Create safe, productive homes for individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities, along with the management team, to support those with mental health needs, as well as traumatic experiences.
  • Supervise community-based residential and day programs for people with developmental disabilities.
  • Maintain oversight of the program operations at all times.
  • Participate actively in improving the quality of the programs as needed.
  • Provide leadership to staff through both example and supervision, aiming to foster a supportive, behaviorally-oriented therapeutic environment.
  • Attend and ensure staff attendance at meetings such as shift reports, supervisory sessions, staff meetings, trainings, and any other specially convened meetings.
  • Assign responsibilities and monitor staff progress to ensure all tasks are completed effectively.
  • Ensure all staff members fulfill their job descriptions.
  • Meet in supervision meetings, in-services, staff meetings, lead team meetings, training programs, and committee meetings.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience, preferably with developmentally disabled adults or in a human services field, is required.
  • Organizational and prioritization skills are necessary.
  • Leadership abilities are essential, including the capacity to lead people and projects.
  • Ability to develop and maintain productive, positive relationships with all people.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to drive clients in one’s own vehicle are required.
  • Independence in working is necessary.

Pay and Schedule

The pay range for this position is $22.50 to $33.00 per hour. Overtime may be mandated due to the nature of our work and the youth who depend on us. The schedule includes flexible hours for the first few months, transitioning to Tuesday - Saturday 3:00PM - 11:00PM after fully trained.
