Facilities Specialist

Position PurposeTeton Science Schools is a mission-driven nonprofit organization that connects people, nature, and community through place-based education.The Facilities Specialist provides hands-on maintenance and facilities support across Teton Science Schools campuses, employee housing, grounds, vehicles, and shared spaces. Reporting to the Senior Director of Facilities & Projects, this role completes routine maintenance, repairs, inspections, work orders, seasonal projects, and other facilities needs to help keep TSS spaces safe, functional, and well maintained.ResponsibilitiesComplete facilities work orders, routine maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenanceTroubleshoot and address basic building, plumbing, carpentry, painting, hardware, and general maintenance needsSupport employee housing turnover, inspections, repairs, setup, and unit readinessAssist with snow removal, grounds maintenance, seasonal projects, and campus readinessSupport vehicle, equipment, and facilities inspections and maintenanceIdentify safety concerns or larger repair needs and communicate them to the Senior Director of Facilities & ProjectsMaintain organized tools, equipment, supplies, work areas, and maintenance recordsAssist with facilities projects, furniture moves, deliveries, event setup, and other operational needsCommunicate professionally with employees, residents, vendors, and contractorsParticipate in the Property Management on-call rotation as neededQualifications2 or more years of experience in facilities, maintenance, construction, property management, trades, or a related field preferredHands-on experience with maintenance, repairs, and troubleshootingStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work independentlyAbility to safely use common hand and power toolsClear communication and customer service skillsValid driver’s license and ability to drive between TSS locationsFirst Aid, CPR, and AED certification preferred or ability to obtain within the first 90 daysWorking Conditions and Physical RequirementsThis is a campus-based, hands-on position requiring regular work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. The role requires the ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and perform physical tasks including bending, reaching, climbing, kneeling, moving materials, basic repairs, snow removal, and housing turnover support.Occasional early morning, evening, weekend, holiday, or urgent response work may be required.
