About the role
The Facilities Services Coordinator oversees facilities operations to ensure a safe, efficient, and high-quality physical environment. The role provides direct supervision of custodial staff and coordinates complex, high-visibility facilities needs and events in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Understand all employee work assignments and schedule for adequate coverage.
- Complete 4 hours of administrative time and 4 hours of cleaning time per day. When necessary, complete additional custodial work assignments.
- Interview, select, train and evaluate staff. Provide coaching and direction. Take actions related to promotions and discipline as appropriate.
- Assist with the training of new employees and retraining as necessary.
- Maintain inventories of products, equipment and other supplies as needed to meet operational and customer needs.
- Report damage and other irregularities requiring attention or repair.
- Receive and respond to inquiries and complaints.
- Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public.
- Promote a safe work environment and maintain safety standards to assure compliance with federal, state, local and University Regulations.
- Aids in planning procedures and work methods and revises or recommends revisions to improve efficiency of operations and services.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, and three years supervisory and facilities management experience, and valid driver’s license.
- Valid Driver’s license is required and ability to meet and maintain University Driving Policy Standards.

- Ability to read, write, and follow directions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead staff, manage shifting priorities, and work effectively with key stakeholders.
- Experience coordinating services across multiple facilities.
- Event support or event-driven operations experience.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic to intermediate computer skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
- Familiarity with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), preferably AiM.
- Knowledge of custodial equipment and supplies.
- Experience in customer service and working with the public.
- Experience working in an institutional or corporate setting.
- Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
