Facilities Safety Coordinator
Position Summary
The Facilities Safety Coordinator supports a safe, compliant, and patient-centered healthcare environment by coordinating safety programs, conducting risk assessments, ensuring regulatory adherence, and supporting emergency preparedness. This role works closely with clinical and non-clinical teams to promote a proactive culture of safety, maintain regulatory readiness, and mitigate risks to patients, staff, visitors, and property.
Position Qualifications
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in safety, facilities, regulatory compliance, or environment of care—preferably in a healthcare setting is required. Knowledge of healthcare regulatory standards (Joint Commission, DNV, OSHA, CMS, NFPA) and experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and/or safety audits is required.
Education: An associate’s degree in safety management, Health Sciences, Facilities Management, Environmental Health, or related field (or equivalent experience) is required. A bachelor’s degree in safety, Healthcare Administration, Environmental Health, Facilities Management, or a related field is preferred.
Certification/Licensure: Certified Healthcare Safety Professional – International Board for Certification Services and Management (IBFCSM) is preferred. Certified Health Care Facility Manager – American Hospital Association Certification Center (AHA-CC) is preferred. OSHA 30-Hour Card – Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is preferred. Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) - Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is preferred.
