Facilities Project Manager – Electrical Engineer

About the role

The Groton Facilities Engineering department is seeking a seasoned electrical engineer to provide maintenance and troubleshooting support for the 110+ year old Groton shipyard and local sites, as well as designing and executing infrastructure construction projects. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of a dynamic team shaping the future of the shipyard during a period of unprecedented growth.

Responsibilities

• Engineer and develop the scope of work for infrastructure construction projects
• Prepare bid documents and manage vendor selection
• Secure project funding and prepare purchase requisitions
• Provide in-field project management of vendors and Electric Boat personnel
• Maintain project budget, schedule, and documentation
• Perform maintenance and troubleshooting for electrical systems in the shipyard and local sites
• Interface with local city building officials and Naval oversight

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years of post-graduate experience in electrical engineering
• Familiarity with electrical distribution systems up to 35KV, including substations, switchgears, transformers, and underground duct banks
• Knowledge of submarine shore power requirements and state/local building codes is desired

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in facilities engineering, plant engineering, or construction
• Professional Engineering License (PE)

• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Maintains a questioning attitude and is technically proficient with a willingness to continuously learn
• Proficient in MS Office and Microsoft Project
