About the role
The Groton Facilities Engineering department is seeking a seasoned electrical engineer to provide maintenance and troubleshooting support for the 110+ year old Groton shipyard and local sites, as well as designing and executing infrastructure construction projects. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of a dynamic team shaping the future of the shipyard during a period of unprecedented growth.
Responsibilities
- Engineer and develop the scope of work for infrastructure construction projects
- Prepare bid documents and manage vendor selection
- Secure project funding and prepare purchase requisitions
- Provide in-field project management of vendors and Electric Boat personnel
- Maintain project budget, schedule, and documentation
- Perform maintenance and troubleshooting for electrical systems in the shipyard and local sites
- Interface with local city building officials and Naval oversight
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of post-graduate experience in electrical engineering
- Familiarity with electrical distribution systems up to 35KV, including substations, switchgears, transformers, and underground duct banks
- Knowledge of submarine shore power requirements and state/local building codes is desired
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in facilities engineering, plant engineering, or construction
- Professional Engineering License (PE)
Skills
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Maintains a questioning attitude and is technically proficient with a willingness to continuously learn
- Proficient in MS Office and Microsoft Project
