About the role

The Facilities Project Manager (PM) provides leadership, direction, and oversight during all phases of construction. The PM assists with organizing and overseeing the construction process and ensures projects are completed in a timely and efficient manner. The PM is involved in all phases of the construction process: preconstruction, construction, and post-construction. The Project Manager coordinates construction efforts, predicts, and resolves conflicts before they impact the project. This role supports capital and maintenance projects across facilities, industrial sites, and infrastructure environments, ensuring safe, timely, and cost-effective outcomes aligned with business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for several projects or portions of projects with varying complexity with annual budgets ranging from $100,000 to $1,000,000.
  • Projects could be single-year or multi-year projects.
  • Provide a positive customer interface while addressing project scope, safety, quality, schedule, and cost issues.
  • Direct high-quality communication with the customer is very important.
  • Communicate effectively across the matrixed organization, Asset Strategy, Facilities Engineering, and other customers/stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Work with the support groups, such as engineering, scheduling, cost controls, construction management, and startup and testing staff, to ensure that proper alignments and support occur.
  • Work with Architect/Engineering firms, vendors, and contractors to ensure high-quality and timely support occurs on assigned projects.
  • Provide weekly and monthly project status updates. These updates may be in the form of a report and/or presentation to leadership.
  • Meet agreed-upon scope, cost, schedule, and quality objectives.
  • Develop and maintain project plans that provide timely deliverables to achieve project objectives.
  • Identify initial risks, issues, and constraints impacting project execution.
  • Manage multiple projects at various stages of development concurrently.
  • Facilitate the flow of work during a project to ensure that it conforms to the project plan, covering forecasting, scoping, planning, scheduling, execution, and closeout.
  • Avoid delays and ensure project results contribute positive business value in support of meeting the Facilities department goals.
  • Assume project communication role throughout the life cycle of the project.

  • Assist in the development of performance metrics and track the performance of the projects executed.
  • Identify and recommend new processes, techniques, and standards that drive performance and process management.
  • Identify, prioritize, and drive the implementation of process enhancements.
  • Validate financial forecasts and provide ongoing reconciliation of resources and other related project expenditures.

Requirements

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in construction management, Construction Engineering, Architecture, Civil Engineering or a related construction degree; or equivalent years of transferable field experience.
  • 5+ years of project management experience in the commercial and/or industrial environment.
  • In-depth understanding of forecasting, budgeting, planning, design, schedule and scope management.
  • Strong and flexible management skills with ability to adapt to changes and workloads.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills where they can delegate tasks, motivate others, and manage priorities in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Enthusiasm and Willingness to work with multiple personality types.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • MISOHA 30-Hr. Training
  • Minimum Training on utilizing Equipment (i.e., man lifts, hi-low, cranes)
  • Technology competent in using the following Software: MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, MS PowerPoint

Qualifications

  • Valued, but not required: LEED-AP and/or WELL-AP preferred - 2+ years of proven track record managing projects achieving a high level of environmental performance
  • STSC certification
  • Proficient with Construction Management software (i.e., Procore)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
  • Experience in facilities construction projects is preferred.
  • Experience leading projects involving interface with internal and external stakeholders, municipalities, or agencies
  • Demonstrated success in identifying and managing risk
  • Communicating and reporting project status to senior leadership
  • Project Management skills, including the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Planning, organizational and leadership skills
  • Strong communication skills including verbal, written, presentations, meeting facilitation and negotiation.
  • Knowledge of Construction Specifications Institute (CSI)
  • Interpersonal skills, including the ability to make effective presentations and communicate technical concepts to non-technical clients
  • Experience with process management and improvement and/or lean principles
  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience with Unifier, ProjectWise, or other Project Management Information Systems.
