What To Expect
A Tesla Gigafactory Facilities Operator is responsible for monitoring and operating critical facilities equipment to ensure uninterrupted production. This role involves ensuring all facilities equipment operates efficiently to meet Tesla's stringent safety, efficiency, and sustainability standards.
What You'll Do
- Operate and monitor HVAC, hydronic systems, compressed air, medium voltage electrical distribution, chemical refining, delivery, and recovery systems.
- Start and stop equipment, and maintain facility operation through control software.
- Support new equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and sustaining operations.
- Perform routine operator rounds of equipment and systems.
- Utilize control systems to monitor equipment and troubleshoot operational parameters.
- Improve equipment and system reliability through collaboration with teammates and facilities engineers.
- Work from schematics, piping and instrument diagrams, layouts, plans, and follow written/verbal instructions.
Required Skills and Experience
- Basic mechanical and electrical system operations understanding.
- Experience with chemical handling and electrical distribution.
- Reliability, initiative, and a desire to learn.
- Multitasking and adaptability to constant change.
- Adaptable work schedule (compressed work week, night shifts).
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and flexibility.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information.
- Able to use Microsoft Office software.
- Two years of college/technical school or equivalent work experience.
- Applicable training and certifications a plus.
Essential Physical Demands
- Extended periods of standing and walking (up to 12 hours).
- Frequent lifting, pushing, and carrying up to 35 lbs., including 20 lbs. up and down stairs.
- Frequent bending, lifting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, and crawling.
- Ability to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, or other high structures.
- Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing.
- Wear personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, reflective vest, and adhere to prescribed safety rules and guidelines.
