Facilities Operating Engineer

Responsible for operating, inspecting, repairing, and maintaining the power plant, auxiliary equipment, emergency generators/switchgear, cogeneration, sterilizers, and related process equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate, inspect, repair, and maintain power plant and auxiliary equipment
• Maintain emergency generators, switchgear, cogeneration systems, sterilizers, and related process equipment
• Work on engines, generators, condensers, pumps, compressors, and boilers
• Perform brazing, electrical troubleshooting, and blueprint reading
• Use basic computer skills for equipment monitoring and documentation

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Three to five years of experience in plant operation and equipment repair within a commercial facility or institution
• Basic knowledge of pump function, maintenance, and repair
• Basic computer skills
• 500 HP Los Angeles Steam License (required within one year of hire for those hired after January 1, 2013; required immediately for those hired prior)
• EPA 608 Certification (preferred)
• Must provide basic personal hand tools
• Ability to perform essential physical requirements of the job

Pay

$33.07 - $49.61 per hour. The posted pay range reflects the lowest to highest pay available for this position at the time of posting and may be subject to change. Salary offers are determined by candidate’s relevant experience and skills. For per diem positions, a standard rate is used based on market data and not the candidate’s individual experience.
