FACILITIES MAINTENANCE WORKER - MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

About the role

Horizons Youth Services at Milwaukee Job Corps Center provides innovative, quality educational and job training programs to enable young people to succeed in today’s competitive job market and keep pace with the ever-changing dynamics of our worldwide economy. Performs general maintenance and repairs of equipment and buildings requiring practical knowledge and skill in painting, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work.

Responsibilities

• Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain facilities and equipment.
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment and performs scheduled maintenance repairs.
• Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
• Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of equipment.
• Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
• Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
• Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
• Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
• Mows lawns, clears driveways and sidewalks of snow and uses appropriate material to safeguard against slipping on ice.
• Coordinates these activities with student workers.
• Provides technical support to other maintenance personnel.
• Performs daily inspection of buildings and student work to identify safety needs.

Requirements

• Three years of maintenance experience required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent general education degree (GED) required.
• Completion of a craft apprenticeship preferred.
• Valid State Drivers’ License.
