About the role
This position involves skilled work at the experienced worker level, focusing on general maintenance practices such as rough and finished carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roof repair, furniture repair, HVAC, window repair, door locks, and more.
Responsibilities
- Performs specialized carpentry work in altering, repairing, and maintaining buildings, floors, roofs, stairways, partitions, decks, balconies, doors, windows, screens, and furniture.
- Carries out specialized maintenance tasks including masonry, plumbing, electrical, painting, HVAC, door locks, fence and gate installation and repair.
- Operates and maintains various tools and equipment like power and hand tools, performing preventive maintenance and light repairs on equipment.
- Erects scaffolding as necessary.
- Takes measures to ensure safe operation of tools and equipment.
- Keeps time and materials records.
- Performs custodial duties as needed.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of carpentry and building maintenance.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Ability to operate various hand and power tools, repair equipment, and use basic office equipment.
- Ability to instruct skilled and semi-skilled workers in maintenance activities.
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships.
- Ability to make independent judgments and decisions.
- Ability to read and interpret documents and solve practical problems.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 80 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to work in close, confined spaces, walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear, reach above shoulders, work overhead on ladders and platforms, use fingers and hands with dexterity, and feel and reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 80 pounds.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Vocational training/certification in general maintenance areas preferred.
- Valid Florida Driver License is required or ability to obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida and ability to maintain a valid Florida driver’s license.
- Commercial Driver License (CDL) is not required for this position.

Pay

Schedule
