PROJECT OVERVIEW

The participant crew members will be paired with U.S. Forest Service facilities maintenance specialists to complete variety of tasks in the Umpqua National Forest throughout the summer operating season. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Operations of water and wastewater systems and equipment.
  • General maintenance of facilities sites, administrative facilities, and recreational facilities.
  • Use of equipment such as power saws, drills, mowers and other like equipment, or hand tools, for site and facility maintenance.
  • Help complete detailed field reports and enter data into various databases.

Compensation

  • Housing provided by US Forest Service: $1,500
  • Travel/Living Allowance: $3,000
  • Boot Reimbursement: $450
  • CWE Reimbursement: $650

Public Land Corps (PLC) Career Pathway

Students that satisfactorily complete 640 hours of intern work through the PLC program can qualify to apply as an internal candidate for positions at the US Forest Service.

UCC Student Eligibility

  • Minimum of 6 credits at UCC in quarter either prior to or during internship.
  • Educational reimbursement covers tuition and fees for 6 credits of Cooperative Work Experience.

  • Current resume that includes educational and professional work experience.
  • List of 3 professional references listing contact information including email address.

Veteran's Preference Statement

Applicants claiming veteran's presence must submit one of the following:

  • Member Copy 4 of the Certificate of Released or Discharged from Active Duty (DD Form 214 or 215).
  • Letter from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs including receipt of a non-service connected pension.
  • Disabled veterans must also submit a copy of their Veterans Disability Preference Letter from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
