Facilities Maintenance Technician

About the role

Spot On Veterinary is seeking a dependable Facilities Maintenance Technician to support the day-to-day upkeep of our Stamford and Westport veterinary hospitals.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general building maintenance and minor repairs at both Stamford and Westport locations.
  • Complete basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, and appliance repairs.
  • Replace fixtures, hardware, lighting, ceiling tiles, and other building components.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and routine facility inspections.
  • Assist with facility improvement projects, seasonal maintenance, and general clean-up.
  • Perform minor landscaping and exterior upkeep as needed.
  • Identify maintenance concerns before they become larger issues and communicate repair needs promptly.
  • Cook with outside vendors or specialized repairs are required.
  • Maintain maintenance equipment, tools, and storage areas in a clean and organized manner.
  • Follow all workplace safety procedures and company policies.

Requirements

  • Previous experience performing general building maintenance, facility maintenance, or handyman work.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel between both hospital locations.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks throughout the workday.
  • Comfortable working around dogs and cats in a veterinary environment.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Qualifications

  • Experience in one or more of the following is preferred:
  • Commercial building maintenance
  • Medical or veterinary facilities
  • Property maintenance
  • Painting and drywall repair
  • Basic plumbing or electrical troubleshooting
  • General handyman experience

Physical Requirements

  • Regular physical activity, including:
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and reaching throughout the workday.
  • Safely operating hand and power tools.
  • Performing manual labor for extended periods.

Work Environment

  • Indoor and occasional outdoor work throughout the year.
  • Exposure to dogs, cats, cleaning and disinfecting products, and maintenance equipment.
  • Fast-paced veterinary hospital environment.
