Facilities Maintenance Technician

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on and repairs on facility systems, including HVAC, plumbing, painting, electrical, lighting, and mechanical equipment.
  • Inspect and maintain building infrastructure, including doors, windows, roofing, flooring, and structural components.
  • Troubleshoot and repair facility equipment such as air compressors, generators, pumps, lifts, and shop equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
  • Respond to facility emergencies, equipment failures, and work order requests.
  • Maintain transit facility grounds, parking areas, fencing, and other exterior infrastructure as assigned.
  • Cook with contractors and vendors during maintenance and repair projects.
  • Maintain maintenance records, inspection reports, and work orders.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and environmental regulations.
  • Aid with facility improvement and renovation projects.
  • Support snow removal, storm preparation, and other emergency response activities as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A valid South Carolina Class A or B CDL with passenger endorsement is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in facility maintenance or a related field is required.
  • Technical or vocational training in building maintenance or a related trade is required.
  • Experience in commercial building maintenance, industrial maintenance, facilities maintenance, or a related field is required.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems is required.
  • The ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals is required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and enter confined spaces.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
