About the role

Perform general maintenance and repair duties on all facets of CPA owned and operated facilities. Report directly to the Facilities Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to customer requests and provide resolution in a timely and professional manner
  • Perform carpentry duties including wooden railing and step repair and installation, drywall and stud installation, drywall finishing, and door and frame installations
  • Prepare, prime, and repaint interior and exterior properties
  • Perform masonry duties including repair of cracked and spalled concrete, forming and pouring of new concrete pads, and repair of potholes in asphalt parking lots and roadways
  • Remove, replace, and install rolled and tiled carpeting
  • Remove, replace, and install ceramic and porcelain wall and floor tiles
  • Remove, replace, and install chain-link, vinyl, and wooden fencing
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electronic door locking mechanisms
  • Diagnose and repair minor roof leaks
  • Change faulty light bulbs and perform light electrical work such as outlet and switch replacement
  • Change faulty restroom fixture equipment and perform light plumbing work including paper product dispenser, soap dispenser, flush valve, and faucet installation and repair
  • Complete work orders and forms to ensure all documents regarding repairs/maintenance are complete
  • Apply methods, practices, and procedures in preventative maintenance, inspection, repair, renovation, and minor construction of buildings and utilities
  • Maintain neat and tidy work areas
  • Perform other maintenance duties as assigned
  • During emergency conditions, may be subject to recall and perform emergency and/or recovery operations outside of normal assigned responsibilities and routine working hours

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 years hands-on experience in a commercial facilities maintenance or construction environment
  • Superior record of attendance
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be flexible, and self-starting
  • Effective communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to perform light HVAC/R work such as filter and belt replacement
  • Working knowledge of all aspects of general facilities maintenance and repair (painting, carpeting, tiling, carpentry, fencing, masonry, drywall, locksmith, roofing, light electrical, light plumbing)
  • Ability to operate state vehicles and/or construction equipment in all weather conditions
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and schematics related to buildings and utilities services systems

Qualifications

  • Possess a valid Florida Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days
  • Able to secure a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)

Physical Requirements

  • Pass a pre-employment physical
  • Perform tasks involving intermittent physically demanding work, including reaching, climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching
  • Lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderately heavy objects and materials between 20-50 pounds
  • Sufficient ambulatory ability to inspect premises, including bending, stooping, and walking in confined areas
  • Physical agility required for climbing ladders, stairways, and narrow walkways
  • Tasks are performed in indoor and outdoor environments with potential exposure to heat, humidity, inclement weather, high noise, and maritime conditions
  • Work in and around moving vehicles and equipment, requiring heightened awareness to surroundings and observance of safety precautions
  • Comfortable working near docks, piers, and waterways
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays
  • Safely operate equipment such as boom trucks, genie booms, scissor lifts, and forklifts
