Facilities Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Hampton‑Newport News Community Services Board (H‑NNCSB) is a community‑based organization providing behavioral health, developmental disability, and substance‑use services in Hampton and Newport News. The Facilities Maintenance Technician helps keep the agency’s buildings safe, functional, and welcoming by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and various building projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and routine maintenance, inspections, repairs, and installations on doors, tile, blinds, windows, drywall, gutters, shingles, exterior trim, and other building components.
• Carry out minor electrical and plumbing repairs, including switches, outlets, lighting, fuses, cords, leaks, faucets, fixture valves, drain clogs, wax rings, and related equipment.
• Complete painting, carpentry, masonry, and modular office reconfiguration projects; prepare surfaces and apply paint, primers, and sealers.
• Troubleshoot building systems and equipment, identify malfunctions, maintain maintenance records and parts inventory, and report significant issues to the Facility Manager.
• Support special facility projects, event setups, and other maintenance needs across H‑NNCSB locations.

Requirements

• Two (2) years of building maintenance experience.
• Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
• Valid VA driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Pay

Salary: $44,553

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with rotating on‑call coverage.
