About the role

We're looking for a skilled and capable Facilities Maintenance Technician with a minimum of three years' experience to assist our Facilities Manager in maintaining and repairing ETCOG's facilities across our 14-county region. You'll use your all-around construction skills and hands-on problem-solving abilities to ensure our facilities—both interior and exterior—and their properties are in top shape, aesthetically pleasing, and running smoothly.

This is a flexible part-time role where you'll work independently with minimal supervision in our owned and leased facilities to keep things in excellent condition. Prior eligible government, public-sector service, or ISD in Texas may count toward retirement service credit under our pension plan.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, troubleshoot, and repair light maintenance issues such as plumbing, carpentry, and electrical problems
  • Maintain and repair HVAC units, light fixtures, and other facility systems
  • Ensure safety standards are met across all facilities
  • Perform furniture repair, assembly, and arrangement
  • Maintain both interior and exterior properties to high standards

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years' experience in facilities maintenance, handyman work, or a related field
  • Proficiency in electrical repair, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Flexibility to adapt to varied tasks and challenges

East Texas Council of Governments (ETCOG) is a voluntary association of counties, cities, school districts, and special districts within the fourteen-county East Texas region. We assist local governments in planning for common needs, cooperating for mutual benefit, and coordinating for sound regional development.

ETCOG provides programs and services for East Texas seniors, employers, and job seekers. We also build the 9-1-1 emergency call delivery system, provide peace officer training and homeland security planning services, deliver rural transportation services, business finance programs, grant writing services, and environmental grant funding for the region.
