Facilities Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Facilities Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring STAR's facilities are safe, well-maintained, and fully operational. Working under the direction of the Director of Facilities and Maintenance, the technician performs preventive maintenance, routine inspections, repairs, and facility improvement projects across multiple agency locations (day program and residential settings). This position responds promptly to maintenance issues and facility emergencies, identifies and addresses potential safety concerns, and helps maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for the individuals we support and our employees.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections of building systems, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, and other life safety equipment
• Complete general maintenance and repairs
• Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, DDS regulations, and other applicable health and safety requirements
• Assist with maintaining accurate inspection and maintenance records
• Support the overall operation of STAR's facilities

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• One to three years of general building maintenance, facilities, construction, or related experience preferred
• Working knowledge of basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, and general building repairs
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and perform physical tasks, including bending, climbing ladders, kneeling, working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
• Experience working in a nonprofit, healthcare, human services, or residential setting a plus but not required

Schedule

40 hours a week, Monday-Friday, with flexibility in scheduling based on operational needs. Occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends may be required to respond to facility emergencies or complete projects with minimal disruption to agency operations.
