About the role
Venue Nation is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician at Mystic Lake Amphitheater to support our outdoor venue on a seasonal, as-needed basis during the summer months. This role is ideal for a skilled tradesperson or facilities professional looking to pick up flexible, part-time work without a fixed weekly schedule. The technician will handle small to mid-scale repair and improvement projects that are currently outsourced to contractors. Work will be assigned on a project or call-in basis, depending on venue needs.
Responsibilities
- Keep the venue safe and clean at all times, including but not limited to:
- Clean and disinfect all fixtures, floors, mirrors, doors and walls of restrooms
- Keep all guest-facing areas free of trash
- Restock restroom paper materials and hygiene products as needed
- Keep work areas neat and orderly, clean equipment and assist with other cleaning duties as assigned
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
- Participate in the venue’s sustainability program, which could include:
- Implementing programs that conserve resources/prevent waste such as sorting waste and collecting recycling
- Educating fans about sustainability efforts
- Partner with fellow team members at the end of show to close the venue, which may include:
- Collecting recyclables from the lawn and/or reserved sections
- Picking up and properly storing event equipment such as lawn chairs, barricades, etc.
- Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities
- Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to:
- Mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of production machines
- Reading and interpreting equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
- Diagnosing problems, replacing or repairing parts, testing and making adjustments
- Performing regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities
- Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties
- Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience
- 1–3 years of facilities, maintenance, or building operations experience
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and general safety compliance standards
- Experience performing plumbing, electrical, and general construction/repair work
- Trade certification or state/local licensing (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, etc.)
- Experience in live event, entertainment, or high-traffic venue environments
Physical demands
- Physical activities include walking, talking, seeing, hearing, pushing, balancing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, and handling
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds
- Must be highly motivated and able to work independently
- Ability to work in a very fast-paced environment with considerable noise and interruptions
