Duties

  • Cleaning floors, walls, windows, sidewalks, restrooms, work areas, break areas and public access areas of public buildings.
  • Removal of waste materials and collection of recyclable materials.
  • Being observant of potential safety and security problems.
  • Uses vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, carpet cleaners, polishers, as well as hand cleaning supplies to maintain facilities.
  • Safely uses cleaning chemicals, some of which may be caustic or may produce toxic gases if improperly mixed with one another.
  • Removes waste material to dumpsters and recycling materials to proper collection locations.
  • Removes snow from sidewalk areas and ensures that ice conditions are treated with salt or sand.
  • Cleans break areas.
  • Cleans and maintains supplies in restrooms.
  • Maintains a working inventory of janitorial supplies and prepares purchase orders for replenishment as directed by policy.
  • Monitors for and removes graffiti.
  • Performs a regular cleaning and janitorial materials inventory and notifies the supervisor when material stocks are low.
  • Moves office partitions and furnishings or assists others with moves.
  • Provides routine responses to the public on basic questions such as directions.
  • Sets up tables, chairs, and/or stage for events and returns them to their proper location afterwards.

Requirements

  • At least six (6) months' experience doing general custodial work, or equivalent.
  • A valid Montana driver's license or one must be obtained within sixty (60) days of employment.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.

Skills

  • Ability to follow basic written instructions and simple diagrams.
  • Ability to answer basic questions from the public in a courteous manner.

Pay

Salary Range: $19.2831 per hour and includes an additional $.80 per hour shift differential. Salary reflects Step 4 of a 7-step pay scale. Salary at hiring will be dependent upon the applicant's education, experience, and training.

Schedule

Work Schedule: Tuesday through Friday: 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Saturday: 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
