Facilities Maintenance I
About the role
This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all equipment located in and around the facility including but not limited to: Fire Suppression and Monitoring Systems, Overhead Doors, Walk-through Doors, Gates, Building and Grounds, Bathrooms and for performing Facility Maintenance functions throughout the plant as assigned or directed by Management personnel, while working with limited supervision.
Responsibilities
- Maintains safe work practices at all times and participates in safety programs.
- Assures that safe work practices are followed in all work groups.
- Abides by all company work, safety, and hygiene rules and regulations as outlined in the employee handbook.
- Performs routine and/or non-routine checks and preventive maintenance tasks established by the Engineering Manager, Maintenance Manager, Team Leader Maintenance, Team Leader Area Production, Team Leader Quality, Team Leader Production and the Maintenance Lead.
- May be required to perform emergency repairs with minimal supervision.
- Keeps documentation up to date.
- Performs equipment repair, overhaul, and troubleshooting of equipment; changes and replaces belts, sprockets, bearings, chains, motors, etc.
- Evaluates equipment for performance, performs adjustments, replaces parts, etc. as needed to assure proper operation.
- Performs structurally-sound welds and acceptable cutting, using appropriate cutting and welding equipment.
- May be required to work any shift, any and all days of the week, or overtime in the accordance with production and maintenance schedules.
- Reads, writes, and communicates in English by using prints, sketches, diagrams, operating instructions and technical manuals.
- Maintains a neat, orderly work area.
- Follows instructions given in work logs, work orders, and equipment manuals.
- Supports and promotes all facets of Lamb Weston Operating Culture (LOC) throughout the plant to include but not limited to VeLOCity, DRA, 5S, AMD, CIL, PM Pillar and Centerlining.
- Must be able to operate a forklift and man lift in a safe manner. Requires plant certification.
- Give direction and training to lower bracketed Maintenance personnel as needed.
- Communicates and works with other associates and salaried personnel in a positive manner.
- Assist with Emergency Procedures & Response to Hazardous Substance Releases including water treatment and refrigerant chemicals.
- Conduct Annual inspections of Fire Alarm. Coordinate with Fire Department as needed.
- Provide Corrective (ZM01) and Preventive (ZM03) Maintenance support for the Legacy plant, Line 5 and other areas as needed.
- Responsible for recording all Facility Maintenance activities in SAP to include PM completion and Notification generation.
- Ensure Fire Suppression systems, Fire Monitoring systems and related electric pumps, tanks and diesel pump engines are in good working order.
- Create and submit AIG Impairments for any Fire Suppression or Monitoring Systems which are taken out of service for Maintenance.
- Work with Contractors on Facility projects where outside help is needed to include defining the scope of the project, getting the quote approved and overseeing the work.
- Assist Waste Water Treatment (WWT) with annual testing of Environmental related Backflow Devices.
- Support continuous improvement activities to optimize facility performance and reduce operating costs.
- Periodically assist Maintenance and Production by picking up and delivering parts from other plants.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Be able to attain certification in the following equipment: Forklift, Highlift, Scissor lift, Genie lift, etc. as per plant certification and maintain certification annually.
- Must have good communication skills, both written and oral. Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
- Able to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must be able to complete work assignments with limited supervision.
