Facilities Maintenance Support
About the role
Assists with commercial/industrial building maintenance tasks; routine plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, maintenance on bath fixtures, water and sewer pipes, changes lamps, and HVAC filters, adjusts thermostats, changes backup batteries, and builds small wooden furniture.
- Washes and vacuums vehicles
- Cleans vehicle interior
- Checks tire pressure and lights
- Refills gas tanks and checks fluid levels
- Cleans and maintains buildings and grounds
- Empties trash cans
- Performs custodial tasks as needed
- Helps set up meeting rooms
- Assists with custodial duties
- Restocks dispensers
- Runs errands as needed
- Delivers books to branches in absence of Courier
- Assists with receiving shipments
- Assists with upkeep of water fountain at Headquarters
Essential Functions
Remains aware of safety and security issues and takes appropriate action as needed.
Education/Experience
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience in general building maintenance and related work. Must be able to lift 70 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently.
Knowledge & Skills
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some general building maintenance experience. General knowledge of building and grounds maintenance practices and equipment; ability to understand and follow oral and written directions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and library patrons.

Driver's License
Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of South Carolina; good 10 year driving record.
