Facilities Maintenance Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Perform repair, maintenance, and installation of all equipment and building systems.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, high purity water system, industrial wastewater treatment systems, and building grounds.
• Complete daily rounds and readings, and take water samples.
• Carry out basic to intermediate preventative and non‑preventative maintenance on fans, motors, blowers, chillers, boilers, pumps, vessels, valves, control systems, and other unit operations.
• Perform basic to intermediate troubleshooting on facilities systems and make repairs as needed.
• Access the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to obtain work orders and enter maintenance/repair information.
• Interface regularly with Engineering staff, other Facilities Technicians, and vendors.
• Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive and non‑preventative maintenance on motors, pneumatic tools, and production machines; follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshoot malfunctions.
• Dismantle equipment to access and repair or replace defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
• Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for issues, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Lubricate and clean parts.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School diploma or GED required.
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience with PVC piping, pumps, valves, hand and power tools is a plus.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Office computer skills including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and other basic computer programs.
• Ability to work a compressed work week (12‑hour shifts).
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
