Qualifications
- Knowledge of the materials, methods, and principles used in a variety of construction and maintenance jobs and projects.
- Knowledge of accepted construction methods to determine the cost of a particular job.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions.
- Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely and convincingly.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.
Responsibilities
- Perform repairs and/or installation of facilities systems.
- Provide input to facilities operational budget.
- Establish and carry out a preventive maintenance program.
- Provide directions to helpers and less qualified.
- Performs skilled maintenance tasks including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and masonry as needed.
- Makes on-site inspections of jobs to determine what materials and supplies were actually used as well as inspecting quality of work.
- Orders materials and supplies as needed for various jobs.
- Confers with higher-level supervisor concerning problems with work assignment or personnel.
- Performs other work as assigned.
- Custodial/Janitorial work as needed.
Pay
Salary is in accordance with Tennessee Board of Regents guidelines and the TCAT Northwest Compensation Plan. Background checks are conducted on all full-time and part-time employees prior to hiring.
