Responsibilities

  • Directs crews and establishes priorities through communication with Facility and Operations Management.
  • Establishes and maintains good working knowledge of machine controls including PLC, relay, AC motor drives, hydraulic, pneumatic, steam control valves (pilot and solenoid types).
  • Possesses fabrication skills including use of basic shop equipment, TIG and MIG welding, and basic lathe and millwork.
  • Demonstrates good working knowledge of various equipment systems to troubleshoot and adjust all controls and mechanical components and perform critical PM tasks.
  • Has working knowledge of plant utility systems (compressed air, steam, domestic water systems, etc.).
  • Performs basic building maintenance and repairs (manual and power doors, dock equipment, walls and floors, etc.).
  • Provides direction to junior mechanics on troubleshooting and repair.
  • Ensures GMPs and SOPs are followed and teaches Food Safety rules to the Maintenance department.
  • Follows OSHA and EPA guidelines and procedures where applicable.
  • Has proven experience successfully repairing pneumatics, hydraulics, and most mechanics involved with common industrial equipment such as drives and gear boxes with little to no supervision.
  • Works with department supervisor to ensure procedures and practices within the department are followed.
  • Has good working knowledge of all jobs in the department and is able to troubleshoot, repair, and operate all equipment safely.
  • Willing to train new employees assigned to the department.
  • Assists with maintenance reporting and department paperwork as necessary.
  • Performs other job functions as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent plus specialized training.
  • Ability to work as a team within the department and with all personnel in the facility.
  • Capable of communicating with Supervision, Quality Assurance, Safety, and USDA personnel.
  • Willing and able to learn new equipment and attend necessary training.
  • More than 5 years of mechanical experience demonstrating a proven increase in mechanical knowledge and ability.

Pay: $16.00 - $36.00 per hour
