Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, air handlers, and control systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues in heating and cooling systems and perform necessary repairs.
  • Carry out routine preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and adjust building automation systems (BAS) to optimize temperature, humidity, and air quality.
  • Respond promptly to service calls and work orders to resolve HVAC-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal HVAC regulations, safety codes, and building standards.
  • Aid with the installation and commissioning of new HVAC equipment as needed.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance staff to ensure seamless facility operations.
  • Follow all workplace safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 5-10 years of HVAC experience, preferably in commercial or government facilities.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Licenses & Certifications: EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal) – Required North Carolina HVAC License H1 or H2 - or Master HVAC License - Required

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, electrical controls, and mechanical operations.
  • Experience with building automation systems (BAS).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and environmental conditions.

Work Schedule

Full-time position; may require on-call, evening, or weekend work as needed.
