Facilities Engineering Technician
About the role
This is a day-shift, on-site position located in Tempe, AZ. The role participates in an on-call rotation and requires regular overtime to support business needs. As the Facilities Engineering Technician, you will join a dynamic team to lead onsite vendors and subcontractors, plan and schedule critical work in a fast-paced semiconductor supply environment, while delivering hands-on maintenance and rapid response to protect people and assets. You will drive reliability with on-schedule preventive maintenance, meticulous records, and coordinated spare parts, and contribute to emergencies, continuous improvement, and energy conservation. The role involves optimizing performance using SAP and the Building Management System within a safety- and innovation-driven culture.
Responsibilities
- Manage onsite vendors and subcontractors; define, prioritize, and schedule work amid changing priorities
- Provide timely hands-on response to maintenance, repair, and assistance requests
- Create safe work permits, PTSAs, and JSAs as appropriate
- Ensure compliance with LOTO (Lockout-Tagout) programs
- Ensure preventive maintenance is completed within established timeframes
- Maintain up-to-date building/equipment maintenance records and stocked spare parts inventories
- Respond to building emergencies; provide input to site capital budget
- Promote safety, continuous improvement, and energy conservation
- Use SAP for PM/CapEx/Projects and BMS (Building Management System)
- Follow company policies and procedures
Requirements
- Associate degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or other Safety/Process discipline OR Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or other Safety/Process discipline
- 5+ years’ experience in a Facilities Engineering Technician role with Facilities Maintenance emphasis (for Associate degree holders) OR 3+ years’ experience (for Bachelor’s degree holders)
Qualifications
- Understanding of central plant operations, distribution systems, Freon systems, and acid waste treatment methodology
- Experience with a Building Management System (e.g., Trillium Niagara 4, Siemens Apogee/Insight, or Johnson Controls FX Workbench) is a plus
- 10+ years in a Facilities Engineering Technician role with Facilities maintenance emphasis (preferred)
- Semiconductor experience (preferred)
- Oversight of onsite vendors and subcontractors; ability to define, prioritize, and schedule work within changing priorities
- Basic experience with process controls, high purity piping, and UPW (Ultrapure Water) systems
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self-starter able to work well within a team-oriented environment
- Ability to work with and prioritize multiple tasks in a changing business environment
- Strong communication skills—both oral and written
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs
Pay
Pay range for this position: $31.00–$47.00 per hour. The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. Actual compensation will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. The position may be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses.
