Job Summary

The mission of the Anoka County Facilities Management and Construction Department is to provide a safe, clean, comfortable, and well-maintained environment at the highest level of excellence for the citizens and employees of Anoka County. The department is seeking a Facilities Engineer I to support the repair and maintenance of a wide range of equipment essential to facility operations.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in operating, repairing, and maintaining facility equipment, including boilers, generators, and refrigeration systems, ensuring safe operation.
  • Perform preventative maintenance with minimal disruption and document all procedures and test results.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting and repairs, such as cleaning coils, greasing motors and bearings, and replacing belts.
  • Maintain piping and drainage systems, including cleaning drains and repairing or replacing plumbing fixtures.
  • Ensure doors and hardware function properly; repair or replace components as needed for security.
  • Repair and maintain office furnishings and building elements, including carpentry, painting, ceiling tiles, and minor flooring repairs.
  • Respond to facility alarms related to safety systems, including sprinklers and fire suppression.
  • Complete outdoor maintenance and groundskeeping, including weather-related response.
  • Support general and incident-driven cleaning and custodial tasks.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Accreditation from a technical school or applicable trades program, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge: Basic principles of maintenance and construction.
  • Skills: Ability to operate HVAC equipment, and hand and power tools; ability to commit to a 24/7 on-call shift rotation.
  • Physical Demands: Standard office environment, and outdoor work sites in all weather conditions depending on assignment.

Work Location

This position will work at the Anoka County Government Center, located at 2100 3rd Ave, Anoka, MN, with occasional travel to other Anoka County locations as business needs require. Expected work hours are Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., with a periodic 24/7 on-call shift rotation.
