About the role

This position manages and maintains various building engineering systems including HVAC and mechanical, fire and life safety, electrical distribution and lighting, elevator systems, access control, signage, furniture and equipment, and utility systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manages maintenance and upkeep of assigned facility engineering systems.
  • Negotiates and executes contracts with vendors for professional and technical services.
  • Operates, manages, and repairs assigned building and equipment systems.
  • Supervises and directs outside service representatives.
  • Makes recommendations to ensure safe, clean, attractive, and reliable function of Credit Union facilities.
  • Supports and coordinates with Facility Operations and Office Management functions.
  • Supervises and performs maintenance for fire and life safety systems, and the hardware side of access control and door systems.
  • Assists with building security systems.
  • Performs or causes to perform building and equipment modifications, repairs, and upkeep.
  • Completes inspections and tests, and maintains logs and records.
  • Works 24/7 to address after-hours emergencies.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Licenses in a building trade preferred.
  • Driver’s License. Bondable.
  • Training and experience in a building/construction trade.
  • Licenses or certifications in HVAC or electrical systems.

Qualifications

  • Practical understanding of purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with sources of vendors and suppliers.
  • Knowledge of building equipment and maintenance procedures.
  • A professional and trade level understanding of blueprints and the operation of electrical, mechanical, heating, cooling, plumbing equipment, fire systems as well as building finish systems.
  • Working knowledge of architectural drawings and documents.
  • Knowledge and understanding of building codes.
  • Ability to effectively use computer spreadsheets, word processing, and other standard business and construction related software.

  • Able to coordinate well with others and professionally assist members as needed.

  • Able to operate drills, electrical tools, welder, meters, timers, hand tools, snowplow, salt/sand spreader truck, and all related machinery.

  • Kneeling: resting on knee or knees.
  • Crouching: bending downward and forward at the leg and spine.
  • Reaching: extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Standing: for extended time periods.
  • Walking: especially for long distances.
  • Pushing: using upper body to press against something with steady force.
  • Pulling: using upper body to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects.
  • Lifting: occurs frequently and requires substantial use of upper body and back muscles.
  • Finger dexterity: using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.
  • Grasping: using fingers and palm on an object.
  • Talking: especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Average hearing: able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
  • Repetitive motion: movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Average visual abilities: average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery.
  • Physical strength: medium work; exerting up to 75 lbs. occasionally, and/or up to 30 lbs. frequently, and 15 lbs. constantly.
  • Working conditions: subject to changing inside and/or outside temperatures which may include extreme heat (temperatures above 100 degrees) or extreme cold (temperatures below 32 degrees).
  • Subject to weather.
  • Must work under hazardous conditions including high places, chemical exposures, electrical current, moving machinery, exposure to blood, etc.
  • Frequent local travel.
  • Mental activities and requirements: reasoning ability; ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and involved instructions and to deal with problems involving multiple variables; mathematics ability; ability to perform moderate math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing two digit numbers; to perform the four basic arithmetic operations with money; to perform operations with units such as inch, foot, and yard; ounce and pound (or their metric counterparts); language ability; ability to use passive vocabulary of 5-6,000 words; to read at a slow rate; define unfamiliar words in dictionaries for meaning, spelling, and pronunciation; ability to write complex sentences, using proper punctuation, and using adjectives and adverbs; ability to communicate in complex sentences; using normal word order with present and past tenses; using a good vocabulary.
