About the role
L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Facilities Engineer to support our Orange, VA site. This site is a key center of excellence for solid rocket motor propulsion and energetics in the aerospace and defense market.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with operations and maintenance to capture requirements and translate into project scopes and deliverables.
- Work with external designers/A&E teams to ensure requirements are reflected in drawings and specifications.
- Support contractor selection and management — RFI responses, submittals, change orders, and quality inspections.
- Maintain accurate project files, as-built information, scopes, and documentation.
- Support compliance and safety reviews in coordination with internal teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, construction management or facilities management and minimum 4 years of prior relevant facilities and project experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Strong project coordination skills, including cost estimating, schedules, and contractor oversight.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and external partners (contractors, designers, A&E).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience managing small to mid-scale construction or facilities projects.
- Familiarity with facility infrastructure systems (HVAC, electrical, controls, mechanical).
- Familiarity with CAD (AutoCAD or similar) for reviewing/design coordination.
- Project Management experience or certification (e.g., PMI/PMP).
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or highly regulated environments is a plus.
Qualifications
