Facilities Custodian (Multiple Positions)
About the role
The incumbent performs cleaning maintenance assignments in various University buildings and external spaces under the direction of the Lead Custodian and the general supervision of area manager(s).
Responsibilities
- Operate and care for custodial equipment and supplies applicable to the position.
- Use custodial systems such as those used to track work orders and two-way radios for communication.
- Observe safety requirements and safe work practices and methods as required.
- Perform work involving regular physical activity.
- Establish and maintain cooperative work relationships.
- Work irregular work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Occasionally move up to 50 pounds of equipment/supplies in a safe manner.
Requirements
- Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.
- Follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety.
- Knowledge of common custodial procedures and methods.
- Knowledge of safe cleaning practices.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Good interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships.
- Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position; follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety; operate and care for custodial equipment and supplies applicable to the position; use custodial systems such as those used to track work orders and two-way radios for communication; observe safety requirements and safe work practices and methods as required; perform work involving regular physical activity; establish and maintain cooperative work relationships. Some positions may require ability to move up to 50 pounds.
- Preferred Qualifications: Related janitorial/custodial experience working in a higher education, school district, or other institutional environment.

Pay
Anticipated Hiring Range: $ 3,461 (Step 1) per month - $3,822 (Step 6) per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,461 per month (Step 1) - $4,752 per month (Step 17). Salary step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience.
Schedule
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM with the ability to work irregular work shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Facilities Management is the steward for the University buildings, infrastructure, grounds and landscape. We perform maintenance and renovation to facilities; plan and manage new building construction; support the Redefine the Possible initiative through our commitment to building a welcoming campus and by creating a dynamic physical environment for students, faculty, staff, and the community.
