Custodian (Multiple positions)

About the role

The Custodian position at CSUN provides general cleaning and custodial care and support for assigned campus buildings, facilities, structures, and adjacent areas. The role includes a variety of tasks such as dusting, cleaning restrooms, maintaining floors, and responding to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and maintaining assigned areas, including dusting, cleaning restrooms, and mopping floors.
• Responding to custodial/cleaning emergencies.
• Gathering and delivering trash and recyclables to central aggregation points.
• Operating and maintaining custodial equipment and supplies.
• Ensuring safety and following safety requirements and methods.
• Establishing and maintaining cooperative work relationships.

Requirements

A basic knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work is preferred. Must be familiar with cleaning solutions and chemicals and the proper usage for cleaning purposes and safety.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write at a level appropriate for the duties of the position.
• Follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety.
• Operate and care for custodial equipment and supplies applicable to the position.
• Use custodial systems such as work order tracking and two-way radios for communication.
• Perform work involving regular physical activity.

Skills

• Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
• Familiarity with cleaning solutions and chemicals.

Pay

The anticipated hiring rate is $3680 per month, with a salary range of $3680 - $4951 per month.

Schedule

The position is full-time, working 40 hours per week, from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM, Monday through Friday.

Classification

This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
