About the Role

This position is responsible for custodial and routine to semi-skilled maintenance activities of an elementary school facility. The role involves overseeing and supporting custodial workers or contractors to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees district employees or contracted workers, including prioritizing and assigning work, providing input for performance evaluations, and ensuring staff are appropriately trained.
  • Conducts inspections of facilities to ensure systems and equipment operate properly, efficiently, and meet District standards.
  • Oversees and participates in monitoring, operating, servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining District equipment, systems, and facilities to ensure proper operations. This includes:
    • Ensuring building security.
    • Adjusting processes and scheduling maintenance.
    • Interpreting data and monitoring compliance with regulations, codes, and standards.
    • Ordering supplies and managing inventory.
  • Provides customer service by responding to requests from staff, administrators, parents, vendors, visitors, students, and other parties.
  • Coordinates and participates in facility activities, such as:
    • Setting up and tearing down for events and programs.
    • Moving boxes, books, supplies, and furniture.
    • Performing preventative maintenance and facility repairs.
  • Responds to emergency situations.
  • Reviews and prepares schedules, work orders, logs, and reports, including compiling and calculating data, updating records, and submitting information to appropriate individuals.
  • Participates in facility expansion and renovation design activities and meetings.
  • Coordinates staffing and provides support for after-school athletics and events.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D., and two years of relevant maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License.

Physical Requirements

  • Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
  • Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Incumbents may be subjected to: moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, and intense noises.

Return-to-work retirees will be placed at ninety percent (90%) of the posted range.
