Report This Listing Job Description St. Lawrence Catholic Church and School is looking for a facilities coordinator to be entrusted with the care and stewardship of it's properties and buildings. Seeking to imitate St. Joseph's care for the Holy Family, the facilities coordinator will be asked to ensure the well-being, growth and safety of those who make St. Lawrence their home. General Statement Of Duties The Facilities Coordinator serves as St. Lawrence parish and school's primary leader responsible for the oversight, maintenance, safety, and operational integrity of all buildings and grounds at St. Lawrence. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this position is expected to respond to maintenance needs and supervises maintenance and custodial personnel and ensures that parish facilities support the liturgical, educational, and ministerial life of the parish. The Facilities coordinator safeguards parish assets through sound stewardship, risk management, and compliance with diocesan policies and civil regulations. Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities Facilities Leadership & Supervision Supervise, schedule, and evaluate maintenance and custodial personnel. Assign daily work tasks and oversee completion of maintenance projects. Provide training, direction, and performance feedback to maintenance and custodial staff. Coordinate staffing needs and recommend hiring or disciplinary actions to the Pastor. Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities and staff responsibilities. Campus Operations & Project Management Oversee maintenance of all parish buildings and grounds, including church, rectory, parish hall, school (if applicable), and other facilities. Manage major repairs, renovations, and construction projects in coordination with parish leadership and diocesan construction offices. Obtain and review bids for major work in accordance with diocesan purchasing guidelines. Participate in negotiating service contracts and vendor agreements. Maintain records of warranties, service agreements, inspections, and preventive maintenance schedules. Contractor & Vendor Oversight Ensure all contractors are properly vetted and supervised while working on parish property. Maintain current certificates of liability insurance and workers' compensation documentation for vendors. Monitor contractor compliance with safety standards and scope of work. Verify receipt, condition, and performance of contracted services. Safety, Security & Risk Management Monitor and coordinate all campus safety needs including fire systems, alarm systems, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. Administer parish campus security protocols in cooperation with parish and school leadership. Coordinate emergency preparedness planning and response procedures. Respond to after-hours emergencies such as alarms, HVAC failures, storm damage, or safety issues. Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, local building codes, and diocesan safety policies. Coordinate with diocesan offices regarding liability, insurance claims, and legal matters related to facilities. Maintenance & Operational Support Perform or oversee general maintenance including light carpentry, plumbing, painting, minor electrical work, and repairs. Ensure buildings and grounds are maintained in a clean, safe, and orderly condition. Oversee trash collection and disposal. Assist ministries with facility setup and breakdown for parish events. Maintain and track inventory of maintenance supplies within budget guidelines. Administrative Responsibilities Attend parish staff meetings and diocesan meetings as appropriate. Assist in preparing facilities budgets and monitoring expenditures. Provide recommendations for capital improvements and long-term facilities planning. Maintain accurate documentation related to inspections, repairs, and safety compliance. PARISH EVENTS Support and assist with parish and diocesan-wide events as needed. Ensure facilities are prepared, safe, and properly arranged for liturgical celebrations and parish gatherings. Provide on-site supervision during major parish events when requested. COLLABORATIVE RELATIONSHIPS The Facilities Coordinator works closely with the Pastor to ensure parish facilities support the liturgical, pastoral, educational, and ministerial life of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and School. This position collaborates with parish staff, school administration, ministry leaders, and event coordinators to ensure safe and effective use of parish facilities. The Facilities Coordinator maintains professional relationships with contractors, vendors, and diocesan construction, finance, and risk management offices. The role supervises maintenance personnel and fosters a team-oriented environment focused on stewardship, safety, and service to the parish community. Qualifications/ Skills High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or coursework in facilities management or related field preferred. Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of facilities or building maintenance experience; supervisory experience required. Demonstrated ability to supervise and manage maintenance and custodial personnel. Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and general building maintenance. Familiarity with work contracts, purchasing guidelines, and vendor management. Awareness of liability exposure and risk management practices for parish campuses. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain on feet for extended periods. Strong organizational and leadership skills. Ability to work independently and respond effectively to emergencies. Ability to communicate professionally with parish staff, vendors, and parishioners. Ability to maintain confidentiality. On-call availability for emergencies. Successful completion of diocesan Safe Environment training and required background screening.
