Facilities Care Technician

About the role
St. Andrew’s School is seeking a full-time facilities care technician based on a 40-hour work week, year-round with extra hours on a periodic basis. Some weekend and special event coverage may be required. Employees in this position are eligible for overtime payment.
Responsibilities
- Perform institutional and residential duties that include a variety of cleaning tasks such as cleaning/sanitizing bathrooms, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning screens and windows, gathering and removing trash, sweeping, mopping floors, and changing bed linens.
- Work independently or assist other facilities care technicians as assigned.
- Assist with setting up for special events, which includes moving tables, chairs, and furniture.
- Perform cleaning in dorms and faculty apartments and houses, including cleaning refrigerators, ovens, shampooing carpets, and scrubbing tubs and showers.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Possession of a current, valid driver’s license.
- Self-motivated, ability to follow directions and work with little to no supervision.
- Ability to work well with others as a team player; a pleasant personality is essential.
- Ability to operate cleaning machines.
- Prior housekeeping experience is preferred but not required.
Physical Demands
- Work involves exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises.
- Requires physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling objects over 40 pounds.
- Ability to withstand sustained stooping, bending, and lifting and to climb and work on ladders.
