Job Summary
About the role
The Facilities, Bldg. Maintenance Technician is directly supervised by the Executive Director of Accounting/Facility Operations. This position oversees all maintenance of the building, including preventive maintenance, grounds, and repairs/renovations. The technician also performs physical activities like lifting, carrying, and climbing ladders, and assists with moving and assembling furniture.
Responsibilities
- Overseeing all maintenance of the building; both preventive maintenance, grounds and repair/renovations.
- Contacting vendors, negotiating, and overseeing all work to be done.
- Applying practical knowledge of all building operating systems such as HVAC, security and sprinkler systems, fire alarms, plumbing, heating electrical and any other related building systems.
- Performing janitorial duties for emergency situations e.g. spills, accidents in bathrooms, kitchens.
- Ordering all office supplies which consist of researching, negotiating, ordering, tracking and delivering.
- Making daily trips to the post office to pick up mail.
- Assisting with moving and assembling furniture.
- Driving vehicles and completing various errands which includes going to the airport to pick-up candidates for interviews.
- Responding to emergency situations with sound judgment and in a prompt manner.
- Updating computer records/dates for preventive maintenance work performed, and revising schedules for future maintenance.
- Providing support to external contracting personnel to promptly solve problems and complaints.
- Tracking all orders on POs using SAP program.
- Researching and negotiating with various vendors to perform services.
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Prior general office and maintenance experience required
- Certified to use forklifts
- Ability to follow through on issues, make informed decisions that comply with policies and procedures, multi-task and problem solve to completion with multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to interface professionally with executive management, and external sources
- Possess intermediate to advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Adhere and support KLS Martins quality and safety policies and procedures
- Possess ability to retrieve and interpret documentation
