Facilities Associate- Philadelphia
About the role
Our Facilities Associates play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our two gyms in a given region. They collaborate with the Director team to ensure the gyms are always in excellent condition and prioritize emergency repairs as needed. This position also involves coordinating with Facilities Service Providers for larger capital projects and investments.
Responsibilities
- Maintains all building systems and equipment in a fully functional state
- Proactively notices and addresses problems before they become critical
- Communicates facility project status effectively to directors and other stakeholders
- Advocates for facility improvements
- Performs general maintenance, including:
- Using project management software, Asana, to manage tasks
- Coordinating with Facilities Service Providers for projects requiring trade skills
- Managing relationships with contractors and service providers
- Keeping maintenance logs and reporting on daily activities
- Monitoring equipment inventory and placing orders when necessary
- Performing manual repairs and conducting general upkeep procedures
- Supervising and occasionally performing rope and anchors checks
- Maintaining safe work practices and complying with safety requirements
- Responding to urgent maintenance needs according to Movement policy
- Maintaining contact information for frequent repair service providers
Requirements
- Full-time hours with a flexible schedule
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently and align with gym and director goals
- Able to safely use and supervise the use of power tools and ladders
- Able to keep track of and report on project statuses
- Organized and efficient, meeting deadlines
- Able to perform rope access work and be comfortable working at heights (training provided)
- Responds to emails and other inquiries by the end of the business day
- Supports and embodies Movement's core values
- Computer skills (Word, Excel, Asana)
- Able to work on a ladder and lift up to 50 lbs
- Have a valid driver's license and ability to travel to all region gyms
Qualifications
- Experience maintaining rock climbing walls and climbing safety equipment
- Broad experience in facility maintenance including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and finish work
- Working knowledge of facilities machines and equipment, tools, and devices

Pay
Base compensation for this role starts at $23.50 per hour. Pay is commensurate with experience.
Schedule
This role is based in our Fishtown and Callowhill locations. This role is based in our Philadelphia region – there may be optional opportunities to travel to NYC or Baltimore in addition to regular work here.
