Facilities Assistant Director - Maintenance
About the role
The Facilities Assistant Director - Maintenance position plays a crucial role in the Facilities Leadership Team at University Housing Facilities. This position oversees maintenance operations, including preventative maintenance programs and fire/life safety systems, and collaborates with other leadership team members to ensure seamless customer service for residents and guests.
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements operating policies and procedures to comply with regulations, institutional policies, and unit objectives
- Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
- Schedules operational work plans for one or more trades units
- Maintains the unit budget and approves unit expenditures
- Prepares reports, financial statements, and records of unit activities
- Collaborates with the capital projects and trades teams to meet internal project objectives for residence halls, dining units, and apartments
Requirements
- Six (6) years of experience in building trades or facilities maintenance
- Three (3) years supervising technical staff within commercial, industrial, healthcare, or similar settings (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, steamfitter etc.)
- Valid Driver’s License that meets UW Risk Management Standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and building automation systems
- Experience with asset life cycle planning, UW system procurement, and preventative maintenance setup
- Advanced knowledge of a variety of building science concepts
- Proficiency in computer software for tracking work schedules, inventory and purchasing
- Proficiency with a CMMS
- Experience working in a university setting
- Experience working in a residential setting
- EPA Refrigerant Handling Certification
Qualifications
- High School Diploma preferred

Pay
The starting annual salary is $115,000 or higher based on qualifications.
Schedule
The primary schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, 8-hour shifts between the hours of 7:00am – 5:00pm. On-call rotation as scheduled. Schedule alterations as operations and position expectations demand.
