Director Facilities Maintenance

  • Plans and administers directly, and through subordinate supervisory personnel, the effective management and delivery of facility maintenance services in accordance with all hospital, system and regulatory agency standards.
  • Directs and coordinates facility maintenance activities to insure that services are provided on schedule with quality and cost objectives.
  • Ensures that all facility maintenance activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, federal, and governmental regulations and laws.
  • Develops and trains personnel within the department and reviews and appraises their performance.
  • Establishes facilities organization plan and delegates responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities to appropriate subordinates.
  • Directs, coordinates and oversees major unit projects to the best economic advantage of the corporation.
  • Ensures quality, financial, and customer service objectives are met.
  • Develops, secures approval of and administers capital and operating budgets in order to meet agreed-upon departmental goals and objectives. Develops and implements appropriate methods to monitor adherence to budgets and resolve variances.
  • Improves function and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by studying performance results; identifies, recommends, and implements changes, expansions, and additions.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complies with legal codes and regulations.
  • Stays current on knowledge of technology and state and federal regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate degree in engineering or related field.
  • Ten years of facilities experience including at least three years in a managerial role
  • Preferred: Experience in hospital maintenance and engineering. Quality improvement experience preferred.
