Responsibilities
- Leads and facilitates one or more of YAI’s Family Support group offerings, moderating discussions with children, adults, and/or parents based on specific program curriculum.
- Conducts virtual and on-site intake sessions with participants to assess service needs and coordinates with leadership to ensure necessary supports are provided.
- Engages participants with varying verbal abilities and support needs, or parents of children with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD), ensuring participation and a safe, structured environment.
- Conducts person-centered goal setting and monitors participant progress through observations.
- Provides individual assistance within a group setting as needed.
- Communicates consistently with supervisors to escalate programmatic concerns and report operational issues related to equipment and facilities.
- Engages with families pre/post-session to discuss progress, plans, or concerns.
- Collaborates with program leadership to develop, update, and enhance program curriculum using evidence-based practices.
- Ensures timely and accurate documentation of services, attendance, and billing in compliance with guidelines and regulations.
- Handles facility set-up and clean-up for each group session, including moving tables, chairs, and other equipment.
- Completes mandatory and other training within required timeframes.
- May conduct in-person outreach presentations about YAI Community and Family Services (CFS) and related programs across New York City.
- Performs other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, training, and/or certificate in a program-related field or as required by program contract; or a satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent time management and written communication skills.
- Ability to set up rooms, including moving/sliding tables, chairs, and other equipment.
- Proficiency in Outlook, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of experience working with people with I/DD.
- Master’s Degree may be required by certain contracts and/or programs.
Pay
$25.00 hourly
