Face to Face Interpreter – Vietnamese

About the role

As a face-to-face Vietnamese Language Interpreter, you'll use your language skills to assist others during medical, social service, and other types of in-person appointments. This role offers a flexible schedule with the opportunity to earn more by taking on additional assignments. It's ideal for those seeking a rewarding way to help others while working independently.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, in-person interpretation between English and Vietnamese during appointments.
• Assist clients in medical, social service, and other settings as needed.
• Adhere to professional standards and confidentiality requirements.

Requirements

• Be located in the Central Ohio area.
• Hold a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Be eligible to work in the United States.
• Pass a Federal Criminal Background Check (fingerprint-based) and a 10-panel drug screening at no cost to you.
• Provide proof of completion from an accredited interpreter training program of at least 40 hours (e.g., Bridging the Gap, Access 2 Interpreters' "Access Academy," Court Interpretation, or a Certificate/Degree in interpretation from an accredited institution).
• Provide Certification of Bilingual Proficiency or complete a 3rd Party Bilingual Fluency Evaluation through an accredited organization (cost may apply if certification is not already held).

Skills

• Fluency in English and Vietnamese (written and verbal).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain neutrality, confidentiality, and professionalism.
• Flexibility to accept assignments on short notice and work varied hours.
